International Mindfulness Congress

Since 2014, the International Mindfulness Congress has been held in Brazil and Spain, a collaboration between the Centro Mente Aberta (UNIFESP), coordinated by Professor Marcelo Demarzo, and the Dharamsala Mindfulness Center (University of Zaragoza), coordinated by Professor Javier Garcia- Campayo. In 2024, the 10th edition will be in person in Ribeirão Preto-SP, focusing on popularizing Mindfulness as a health and self-care tool, especially in public policies.
We hope to bring together around 250 participants for a reference event throughout Latin America and Ibero-America.

The 10th International Mindfulness Congress will be held at Didactic Block of the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto (FMRP), part of the renowned University of São Paulo (USP). Bachelor's, Master's and PhD in Psychology from USP. She works as a professor at FEA-RP/USP in the area of Human Resources and Sustainability. She
programs for developing responsible leaders and has research related to the following topics: sustainable human resource management, education for sustainability, corporate social responsibility, sustainable development. Founder and coordinator of the Sustainability Office of FEA-RP/USP, created to promote the UN Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME). Advisor to the Living Wage Movement of the Global Compact Network Brazil (UN).
Master and PhD candidate in Innovation and Sustainability Management from FEA-RP/USP, completing his PhD at Project Zero, Harvard Graduate School of Education. His research explores the development of conscious and responsible leaders, with a focus on spiritual, collective and creative intelligence. Mindfulness instructor at Mente Aberta (UNIFESP) and a scholar of Theory U at MIT. He is a co-founder of S2 for Leaders, Instituto Terroá and other projects focused on personal and collective development, as well as a member of the research group Golden for Sustainability – Chapter Brazil.
Rogerio Calia is a professor at FEARP-USP, where he stands out for his research in leadership, management and innovation, with a special interest in how mindfulness can be integrated into the corporate environment to improve the productivity and well-being of employees and leaders. Rogerio is a respected lecturer and author of several works that explore the intersection between business management and mindfulness practices, offering a unique perspective that unites management science and personal development.
Marcelo Demarzo is a professor at the Escola Paulista de Medicina at the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp) and one of the main researchers in mindfulness in Brazil. With a career dedicated to the study and application of mindfulness in health and well-being, Marcelo is the author of several scientific articles and books on the subject. He is recognized for his pioneering work in promoting mindfulness practices in clinical and educational contexts, contributing significantly to public health in Brazil and internationally.
Javier Garcia Campayo is a professor of psychiatry at the University of Zaragoza and one of the leading experts in mindfulness in Spain and Europe. Author of several books and scientific articles, Javier has extensive experience in clinical research and implementing mindfulness programs in therapeutic contexts. His work is widely respected for integrating mindfulness and compassion techniques into psychological treatments, promoting mental health and well-being.
Jon Adams is a professor and researcher at the University of Technology Sydney, where he leads studies on evidence-based integrative health. With an extensive career dedicated to complementary and alternative health research, Jon is a prolific author and global speaker known for his in-depth analyzes of the effectiveness and implementation of integrative practices like mindfulness in modern healthcare systems.
Austen el-Osta is a leading researcher and expert in self-care and public health, affiliated with Imperial College London. Her work focuses on integrating supported self-care strategies (including mindfulness) into health policies and promoting well-being through evidence-based practices. Austen is internationally recognized for his innovative contributions that have helped shape physical and mental health strategies in diverse contexts, such as the World Health Organization (WHO).
